Andy Barrett

Andy is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Excavate theatre company. He has written all of the company’s shows, and has co-directed the majority of them. His other work for stage and radio has included ‘Lily’s Years’, a Sony Award winning series; ‘Dolly’, a cloning meets country and western musical, which The Times chose as one of their top five shows of 2010; and the first ever stage version of  Ibsen’s ‘The League of Youth’, which was premiered by Nottingham Playhouse and which is published by Nick Hern Books. In 2010 he wrote ‘The Story Traders of Sichuan’ for an English and Chinese cast, following a period of research in Chengdu and Chongqing; and in 2013 he was funded by the British Council to work in Kosovo. He is currently carrying out doctoral research into the creation of community play texts (see https://communitytheatreplaywright.wordpress.com/).

Abhijeet Choudhary

Abhijeet founded Swatantra Theatre in Pune in 2006. He is a graduate from Delhi University and trained in directing and editing course at AAFT (Asian Academy of Film and Television). He was also an actor in Asmita Theatre under the guidence of Arvind Gaur Sir. After attaining experience in theatre, Abhijeet moved to Pune and fulfilled his ambition of establishing Swatantra Theatre in the heart of the city. Abhijeet will bring his experience of producing Playback Theatre (in which the audience interact with the actors regarding social issues) to the project.

Dhanashree Heblikar

Dhanashree is Creative Director Swatantra Theatre and has assisted Abhijeet Choudhary in all productions at Swatantra Theatre during the past three years. Dhanashree has experience of producting Playback Theatre and has also performed as a light music singer in many programmes and was the winner of the Sahyadri Antrakshari programme in 2007.
