Excavate theatre have been producing community and participatory theatre since 2000, working with thousands of people in communities across the East Midlands, as well as collaborating on national and international projects. Their work deals in the histories, identities, tensions and cultures of the communities that they are invited to work with and they have been involved in research projects with universities and academics across the world. They are currently working in partnership with Rutland Arts; the Aspley estate in Nottingham; and the National Theatre.
